On Sunday, Oct. 27, the Grand Ole Opry House in Nashville hosted the 10th annual Josie Music Awards (the JMAs), a music awards ceremony that honors the best in the independent music industry.
Each year, attendees across all genres head to Nashville for the massive ceremony; this year, the JMAs awarded over 196 honors out of their 75,000 submissions.
The largest independent music award show in the world, the JMAs were started by mother-daughter duo Josie Passantino-Boone and Tinamarie Passantino in 2015. The two wanted to create a space for independent music artists, songwriters and industry professionals to gather and celebrate their work together.
This year's awards show performers included Tiffany, Neal McCoy, Buddy Jewell, JD Shelburne, Randy Edelman, Mr. Talkbox, Ashton Shepherd and LVVRS.
Presenters to take the stage included Doug Stone, John McEuen, Neal McCoy, Audra McLaughlin, Ashton Shepherd, Clarence Jey, Jesse Keith Whitley, Buddy Jewell, Leon Everette, Craig Wayne Boyd and Jeff Mosely (Nashville Insider).
Here are some the highlights from the 2024 award ceremony:
Tiffany was honored with the JMA Icon Award and performed her song "I Think We're Alone Now."
Neal McCoy sang his hit "The Shake," which had the audience on their feet dancing. McCoy was presented with the Lifetime Career Achievement Award.
John McEuen received the Musician’s Lifetime Career Award.
Randy Edelman was presented with the Songwriters Legend Award.
